MARCH 20, 2020 UPDATE RE COVID-19

We have just learned that the IRS will now extend the filing deadline to July 15th.  As of the time of this writing, the State of Maine has not decided if they will go along with that deadline.

What does this mean to you? Frankly, it means you need to plan on having your taxes filed by April 15th, or place your State return on extension.

As we noted the other day, we will not be doing face to face appointments.  If you have an appointment it will be turned into what we call a “Paper Appointment”, which means we will prepare your taxes on the date and time of your scheduled appointment, you just will not be here for it.  If we have questions, we will call you; we will call you with your results when the return is finished.

You will need to go to our website – www.pyestax.com – to print off the checklists and engagements documents (essentially items 1 through 6).  If you are unable to print these forms, please call us and we will mail them to youPlease note:  WE WILL NOT DO YOUR TAXES WITHOUT THESE DOCUMENTS SIGNED AND COMPLETED.

If you do not yet have an appointment, please call the office to schedule one.  At this point in time we are scheduling appointments for May 4th through June 15th.  We will not be making tax appointments in July.

Tax season is a stressful time for everyone; the uncertainty of this pandemic is adding additional stress to all of us.  We appreciate your understanding.
